CEREC Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

At Bonita Del Rey Dental Care, we understand that your time is important and that you are busy attending to the many responsibilities you have at home and work. Still, you must take care of your health including the health of your teeth. This is why our Chula Vista dental practice offers one-visit CEREC crowns. Traditional dental crowns require two visits – one for preparation and placement of a temporary crown and one for placement of the permanent porcelain crown. CEREC requires just one visit and the design process from the first scan to the milling of the crown takes under two hours.

What Makes CEREC a Better Option?

Traditional crowns require two visits and sometimes more as the temporary crown can crack or fall off, requiring the patient to come in again for another temporary crown. Traditional crowns are created from conventional messy dental impressions, which are subject to human error and uncomfortable to sit through.

No More Messy, Time-Consuming, Uncomfortable Impressions

CEREC does away with messy, goopy, time-consuming dental impressions that can cause you to gag. With CEREC, the impression of the tooth is made using an advanced 3D intraoral scanner that generates a very accurate and precise 3D model of the tooth. The CEREC software allows Dr. Espinosa to create a crown quickly and accurately while you wait.

Your dental crown will be customized to the size and shape of your tooth to provide you with a natural-looking and comfortable replacement. This streamlined process eliminates the need for messy impressions, the laboratory step as well as the need to wear a temporary crown — making the process of getting a crown faster, easier and much more convenient.

In addition to saving time, CEREC is often more comfortable for patients because they do not have to wear a temporary crown while waiting for their permanent crown to be created. With CEREC, you can walk out of our office with your new crown all in one day.
